Reid’s band)\, George Clinton\, and many others in Davenport\, Iowa. However\, many of them eventually walked away from music\, and Terrance didn’t learn much about this until recently.\nIn March 2024\, he decided to expand the Soultru sound and form it as an Indie Soul Band. DESCRIPTION:Four Shillings Short\, the husband/wife duo of Aodh Og O’Tuama from Cork\, Ireland and Christy Martin from California\, bring together music\, stories and folklore from the Celtic lands to celebrate the Ancient Celtic Bonfire festival of Samhain\, known as Féile na Marbh (the Feast of the Dead). Samhain (pronounced ‘sow-in’ meaning ‘the Summer’s end’) marks the end of harvest\, beginning of Winter and the Celtic New Year. Traditionally celebrated at the end of October/beginning of November it is the origin of Halloween/All Hallows Eve\, All Souls Day and Dia de los Muertos.\nIt is believed that on Samhain or ‘Ancestor night’\, the border between the world of the living and the dead is thinnest. Candles are lit at the graves of loved ones\, offerings of food and drink left out for the Ancestors and bonfires lit throughout the countryside. Many of our modern day customs are based on Samhain including ghost stories\, Halloween costumes\, bobbing for apples\, and the jack-o-lantern.

Being siblings\, they achieve a close blend on fiddle\, flute and uilleann pipes interspersed with songs sang in unison\, many from their family and local repertoire. Born in Glasgow\, the girls credit their main musical development to frequent trips to Ireland to partake in workshops across the country\, many of which they can now be found as tutors.\nSince the launch of their debut album\, they have performed in various venues and festivals across Europe\, America and Asia and have appeared as guests on stage or toured with acts such as Altan\, The Chieftains\, Lúnasa\, Sharon Shannon\, The Máirtín O’Connor Trio and Cherish the Ladies. Irish Music at its very best.’ Charles Devlin\, Director Ireby Festival.\nI’ve been keeping a watchful eye on The Jeremiahs since reviewing their debut album in 2015. That album revealed them as a force to be reckoned with on the ever-vibrant Dublin music scene and was heavy with the promise of future delights. Since then there have been a couple of personnel changes. When I saw them at the 2016 Gate to Southwellfestival\, whistles and flutes had been taken over by Calum Stewart who also added his trademark Uillean pipes. For this second album\, though\, the line-up has been reduced to a core trio plus guests. The trio is Joe Gibney on vocals and stomp box\, James Ryan\, guitar\, bouzouki\, harmonica\, backing vocals\, and Jean-Christophe Morel on fiddle\, bouzouki and shakers. And as for those promised delights\, The Femme Fatale of Maine delivers them in abundance.\n\n\nIn 2015 Joe Gibney’s voice was already one that could raise the hairs on the back of your neck and over the last two years\, his vocals have grown in stature and confidence. Reflecting that\, the ten tracks of the new album include seven songs as opposed to the five song-five instrumental split of the first. An even more welcome shift is that five of the seven songs are band compositions\, songs with lyrics and arrangements that show a creative maturing of both the band and its individual members. Given that the only original song on the first album had been chosen by Christie Moore as the winner at the 2015 TradConnect Songwriter Showcase\, an enhanced focus on the band’s song writing was surely inevitable. Less of a certainty was that the new songs would equal it in quality\, at the same time exploring a range of styles and subject matter
